Dr. Carson completed residency at Harvard University followed by a fellowship in sports medicine/shoulder surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery. Dr. Carson went on to serve as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, then accepted a position as an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of Sports Medicine at LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He later worked in private practice at a busy multi-specialty orthopaedic surgery practice in Atlanta, GA, while serving as an adjunct Clinical Instructor with Emory University.
Prior to joining Washington University and the St. Louis Veterans Administration, Dr. Carson served as an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA, where he was a team physician for the University of Virginia Cavaliers.
In addition to having an accomplished background in the field of orthopaedics, he also served in the United States Army Reserve Medical Core, and was deployed three times during his service.
