FAJR is actively seeking highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Volunteer Surgeons with expertise in the following specialities:

1- Paediatric Orthopaedic and scoliosis surgery 

2- Paediatric Plastic Surgery

3- Paediatric Neurosurgery 

4- Paediatric General Surgery 

 

As a volunteer pediatric surgeon, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized surgical care to children in Gaza, Palestine. Your expertise and dedication, are needed more than ever and will make a significant impact on the lives of young patients in need.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Perform Surgical Procedures on paediatric patients: Conduct surgical procedures, with a primary focus on scoliosis correction and pediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, neurosurgery and General Surgery. This includes pre-operative evaluations, surgical planning, and post-operative care.

2. Provide Specialized surgical Care: Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric conditions, including scoliosis, congenital deformities, fractures, and growth plate injuries. Utilize advanced surgical techniques to optimize patient outcomes.

3. Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including o anesthesiologists, nurses, and physical therapists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

4. Mentor and Train Local Healthcare Providers: Share your expertise and knowledge with local healthcare providers through training and mentorship programs. Help build their capacity to provide quality pediatric surgical care in their communities.

5. Participate in Outreach Programs: Engage in outreach programs to raise awareness about pediatric surgical conditions, promote early intervention, and educate communities on preventive measures.

6. Maintain Medical Records: Accurately document patient information, surgical procedures, and post-operative progress in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.

7. Stay Updated with Advancements: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in pediatric surgery in your respective speciality. Continuously enhance your knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

1. Medical Degree: Possess a medical degree from an accredited US/ Canada/ UK institution. US / UK or Canadian Board certification or eligibility in pediatric surgery in the fields of Orthopaedics, Plastic, Neurosurgery or General surgery is required.

2. Specialization: Demonstrated expertise in your respective specialities, with a focus on pediatric conditions. Experience in complex congenital deformity correction is highly desirable.

3. Relevant Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a pediatric surgeon, with a proven track record of successful surgical outcomes. Experience working in resource-limited settings or volunteering in medical missions is advantageous.

4. Compassionate Care: Show empathy, compassion, and sensitivity towards pediatric patients and their families. Ability to create a supportive and reassuring environment for young patients.

5. Team Player: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.

6. Cultural Sensitivity: Respect and appreciate cultural differences, adapting your approach to provide culturally sensitive care.

7. Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to work in challenging environments with limited resources. Ability to adapt to local practices and conditions while maintaining high standards of care.

8. Licensing and Credentials: Possess all US/Canada / UK necessary licenses, certifications, and credentials required to practice as a surgeon in the relevant jurisdiction.

9. Language Skills: Proficiency in English is advantageous, as it will facilitate effective communication with patients and local healthcare providers.
