Dr. Walid Yassir

Dr. Yassir is Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Vice Chief of Staff at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, as well as holding appointments with Wayne State University and DMC, where he was previously Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. His areas of clinical interest include the treatment of clubfeet, spinal deformities, and trauma. He sits on several national committees, including the POSNA Pediatric Orthopaedic Global Outreach Committee. He is active in volunteer work, performing annual trips to perform surgery and resident education in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem through the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. Dr. Yassir’s interest in the treatment of clubfeet started over 20 years ago with his expire to Dr. Ponseti’s method of correction. He sought additional training from Dr. Ponseti in order to perfect his technique and remain faithful to Dr. Ponseti’s teachings. He continues to perform and teach Dr. Ponseti’s methods to a new generation of surgeons.
